Capstone Idea

The purpose of my capstone is to engage adults experiencing homelessness in meaningful leisure and social activities to increase self-esteem and role competency. Homeless adults do not have access to many leisure or social activities once they begin living in a shelter environment. Lack of social and leisure activities creates deficits in areas like social participation as well as a general decrease in mental health and wellbeing. This lack of meaningful activity also increases boredom and lack of confidence in homeless adults. Addressing this area is important as it will promote participation in meaningful leisure and social occupations targeted to each participant.
